M502 product is a yellowish oil-like liquid.  It is formulated with a mineral oil, surfactants, an immunostimulating molecule and other ingredients. When mixed with an antigen under a low-speed blending, M502 instantly forms an oil-in-water (OW) nanoemulsion through a process called self-emulsification. Self-emulsification differs from traditional emulsification process, which requires high energy input, thus is very easy to use in vaccine production.  When one part of M502 is blended with three parts of antigen,, the nanoemulsion has an average particle size of 200-250nm and is very stable.  M502 has been tested with many animal species, including pigs, cattle and sheep and is found to be well-tolerated.  Nanoemulsion prepared using M502 has been shown to induce long-lasting antibody responses to inactivated Porcine Circovirus, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and swine influenza vaccines.
